Trap Mate* Criminal Interdiction & Hidden Compartment Training is geared towards proactive officers looking to expand their knowledge in street-level patrol and criminal interdiction techniques. During this course, Jeramy Ellison, the owner and founder of Dynamic Police Training, will break down every aspect of a roadside encounter, including pre-stop indicators, vehicle registration, sequencing identification, staged and cloned vehicle identification, case law, reasonable suspicion, probable cause (PC) and consensual encounters, roadside interview techniques, and report writing.

Students will learn proper vehicle searching techniques to help locate concealed contraband in both passenger and commercial motor vehicles, as well as the identification of hidden compartments commonly used by cartels and other street-level organizations.

Students will engage in hands-on training with REAL cartel trap cars and learn how to conduct a systematic search legally and professionally. This training seminar includes an additional hands-on portion with battery traps, wheel traps, trap doors, latches and mechanisms, electronic clusters, relays, and much more! Courtroom Testimony Practical Applications

Crime scene investigators and peace officers are expected to be expert witnesses. To be perceived as experts, they must establish credibility from the moment they enter the courtroom and proceed to the witness stand to present their testimony. This course provides participants with practical activities to develop and enhance their ability to give effective courtroom testimony. Activities include communication skills evaluations, presenting expert witness credentials, and mock testimony in a simulated courtroom.

This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements Texas Forensic Science Academy Courtroom Testimony Course #40067.

Prerequisites 

Participants enrolling in this course must complete the following course prior to attendance:

·         Foundations of Courtroom Testimonyopens in a new tab

Participants must complete this course at least two weeks prior to class start date.

Enrollment Requirements

Participants enrolling in this course must meet one of the following employment statuses:

·         Licensed or certified peace officer with a current commission employed by or attached to a law enforcement/investigative agency

·         Civilian employed by a law enforcement/investigative agency conducting investigative tasks or duties

·         Nurse employed by a medical facility tasked with conducting forensic examinations

Participants will be contacted via email to confirm approval and admittance into the course.

Course Attire/PPE

Firearms Instructor Course

The Wharton County Sheriff’s Office Firearms Instructor Course is designed to prepare law enforcement professionals to effectively instruct and manage firearms training programs. Participants will develop the knowledge, skills, and teaching techniques necessary to diagnose and correct shooter deficiencies, evaluate targets, conduct courses of fire, and maintain required training documentation.

Upon successful completion, participants will be equipped to develop, implement, and instruct firearms training programs within their agency while promoting officer safety, proficiency, and professional standards.

Student Prerequisites:

Not prohibited by state or federal law or rule from attending training related to firearms or from possessing a firearm.

Never had a license or certificate issued by the Commission suspended or revoked.

Currently hold an Instructor Certificate of Proficiency issued by the Commission.

Have at least three years’ experience as either a law enforcement officer or a firearms instructor.

 Physical Requirements:

Participants must pass the Firearms Instructor Qualifications course on the first day of class to be eligible to continue. Students will be allowed two attempts at passing pre-qualification before dismissed from class.

Participants Must Provide:

Hearing protection

Eye protection

Billed cap

Semi-automatic pistol with three magazines (Red dots MUST be turned off).

Duty belt with magazine holder, and appropriate holsters for semi-automatic pistol. (If your mag holders are on your vest, you MUST wear your vest).

Factory loaded ammunition, 450 rounds for semi-automatic pistol ammunition.

12 gauge shotgun with ammunition (75 rounds birdshot, 10 rounds 00 buck and 10 rounds of rifled slug)

Durable clothes for outdoor range activities including foul weather. NO RED SHIRTS ALLOWED.

Yellow "reflective" vest

Gun cleaning supplies appropriate for their weapons.

Water (or appropriate refreshment) to avoid heat stress.

*Class will meet on the firing range (address disclosed via email) for the pre-qual shoot. Once sucessfully passed, we will resume instruction in the classroom at the Training Facility.

Pistol Red Dot Instructor
